Totalitarian War - what does it mean?

Srila Prabhupada was a fighter. Throughout his life he struggled against the indifference of his family. Just to get on the Jaladuta he had to overcome more indifference, plus disbelief and government red tape. He landed in America, a lone fighter, armed with the sword of knowledge. After taking stock of the battle ahead, he proceeded to hack away at just about everything America stood for.

Much of what he said appealed to the non-conformist, anti-establishment hippies. But Srila Prabhupada did not compromise with hippyism either. He saw through their motivated cries for peace, their pleas to end the war so they could peacefully go on enjoying sense gratification.

He berated the United Nations when no one else dreamed to do so. He exposed those who claimed to be gentlemen simply by wearing a suit and tie.

He decried and spoke against
  • modern "slaughterhouse" education,

  • the grossly materialistic "build and break" society,

  • free sex,

  • contraception,

  • abortion,

  • women's liberation,

  • homosex,

  • heterosex not meant for producing Krsna conscious children.

  • laziness,

  • uncleanness,

  • vague so-called "spirituality",

  • cheating swamis,

  • bogus incarnations of God,

  • decried the bodily concept of life,

  • karma,

  • jnana,

  • yoga,

  • mixed devotion,

  • demigod worship,

  • smarta-ism,

  • mayavada,

  • sahajiya-ism,

  • against getting up later than 4 a.m., or indeed anything less than pure devotional service to Krsna,

  • meat-eating,

  • communism,

  • complacency,

  • the consumer and machine society,

  • modern city life,

  • cruelty to trees,

  • the false theory of overpopulation and

  • the illusion that we can be happy by any means except pure devotional service to Krsna.

He was for Krsna only, and against anything conceived of without relation to Krsna.

-From the "My Memories of Srila Prabhupada" by HH Bhakti Vikas Swami

Basically, Srila Prabhupada was against everything modern society is built upon. All schools and colleges teach students to do one or many of the above. So Srila Prabhupada waged a totalitarian war against the so called "civilised" society of modern world.
